Job Seeker FAQ

Why should I work with HSG vs. other recruiting firms?

We know searching for a new position can be tough process and you want to work with a recruiting firm that has your best interest at heart. We are not a large, impersonal staffing firm with banks of researchers constantly calling potential candidates. We are highly targeted in our outreach, and if we contact you, you can be sure your background is a good fit for the position!

As a “people-focused” agency, our goal is to build long-term relationships with all our candidates and clients. We take the time to get to know you, to fully understand your history and employment goals, and to address any concerns you might have during the search process. We are your partner and advocate in the search process.

HSG’s recruiters know their respective fields inside and out. Whether the position is a digital marketing manager, associate attorney, or help desk technician, we know what our clients are looking for. This understanding of our clients’ needs and company culture makes us uniquely capable of assessing your fit for a position. When it comes to the interview process, we are with you every step of the way – preparing you with keen insights and detailed information you will need to represent yourself in the best way possible. Our thorough approach gives you a key advantage over other candidates and increases your chances of receiving an offer!

If you become a contractor to one of HSG’s client companies, we will stay in touch throughout your assignment. We are your advocates and career counselors for any issues that may come up along the way. We want to ensure you are successful in your role and gain the career growth that you are looking for.

What types of positions are available?

All our divisions (creative, legal, technology) offer both permanent (direct hire) positions and contract (temporary) positions. Our contract roles can last from one month to four years, and often feature the opportunity to be converted to a permanent employee of our client companies. Please click on the links to each division page to see a list of typical job titles.

How can I learn about new openings?

There are two ways to keep current on our job openings. You can check our website “Jobs” link to see current openings across all divisions. Or you can subscribe to our Twitter feed at @HSG_Talent to get instant notifications and links to job descriptions.

How do I apply to open positions?

With each job posting on our website, you can click on the “Apply” link to submit your resume directly to our recruiters. By submitting your resume through this link, you will become part of our active candidate database and can be considered for other job openings as well.

What can I expect in the application process?

Once you have applied to one of our positions, a recruiter who is knowledgeable about your field will contact you by email or phone. We want to get to know you – why you are interested in the position, your skills and work experience and how they relate to the job. We will also discuss your career objectives, as well as lifestyle considerations such as commute, working hours, compensation, benefits, company environment fit, etc. Because we have an in-depth understanding of our client companies, we will be able to discuss all the details about the opening and provide you with an accurate picture of what the job entails.

How is my resume presented? Do you help with common resume issues like gaps in employment?

We are experts at ensuring that your resume represents you in the best way possible. We work with you to make sure what’s on your resume specifically targets the skills and experience needed for the job. We believe your resume is a marketing document for you and work hard to make sure it’s the best it can be!

We consider you part of our “family” and want to make sure you are successful in your assignment!

What if I am on an assignment and decide it is not for me?

While we do everything in our power to ensure you know as much as possible about a position and the team you are joining, we realize that sometimes things don’t turn out the way we expect. In that case, reach out to us immediately and we will work with you to decide on the best way to move forward. Communication is key in resolving the situation in the best way for both you and the client company. Keep us informed about what’s happening early on and let us partner with you to find an amicable solution for both you and the client company.

How does HSG protect my personal information?

Over the recruitment and placement process, we will be asking you for some confidential information. Some info is required by our clients to submit you into their HR system.
